Australian Species
WATER BUFFALO
Bubalus bubalis
Water Buffalo were introduced from Asia in the early nineteenth century, mainly for food. Domesticated cattle at the time would not have survived the harsh conditions. Today, after thousands of Buffalo were destroyed mainly around cattle stations, vast areas of Arnhemland remain untouched. A hunt in the outback after Water Buffalo is a must for the big game hunter.
